Australia will be seeking revenge for their defeat in the first test when they meet the British and Irish Lions for the second test at Melbourne tomorrow. Lions coach Warren Gatland has made five changes to the fifteen that defeated Australia by 23 to 21 in Brisbane last week.

FORTY STUDENTS BEGIN PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN CASARES



Forty students have begun their summer paid internships in Casares. Education councillor Pedro Gonzalez met the students earlier this week. Thirty one of the students taking part in this year's programme are from Casares while 9 are from Secadero. The internships will provide financial assistance to the students while they carry out their studies away from home. 


MANILVA MAYOR LEAVES THE UNITED LEFT BUT WILL NOT RESIGN



The Mayor of Manilva, Antonia Munoz, and six of her fellow councillors have resigned from the United Left , leaving the party without any representation on the council.  The resignations follow requests from the party at provincial, regional and federal levels. Antonia Munoz said she has no intention of leaving the council unless a judge orders it. Munoz is facing two sets of proceedings in the courts in Estepona. One involves an alleged planning breach following a complaint by a local resident in 2012. The second involves a denunciation by union official Francisco Roman for the alleged irregular proceedings in the hiring of 108 people.

SAHARAN CHILDREN ARRIVE IN CASARES FOR ANNUAL SUMMER HOLIDAY



The children of the Sahara arrived in Casares this week for their annual holiday in peace. Five children will spend the summer with Casares residents and will enjoy their annual break from the hardships of desert life. The programme which brings children from the Sahara to Malaga has been running since 1993. This year over eleven hundred children are arriving in Andalucia, with 80 coming to  Malaga province and 5 to Casares. The children will enjoy a good diet and undergo medical checks while they are on their summer vacation.


NEW DOCUMENTARY ON BLAS INFANTE OPENS IN SEVILLE STOP





A new documentary on the life of Casares most famous son, Blas Infante, was shown at a special presentation in Seville today. the Tourism Councillor Pepe Carrasco attended the opening of the documentary, "Casares, on the trail of Blas Infante". The film was directed by Ina Haze and commissioned by the Town Hall. Two actors from the Casares theatre group took part and the voices were recorded in the Radio Casares studios. Councillor Carrasco explained that improvment works are being carried out at the Casa Natal de Blas Infante and that the work is being funded by a 9,000 Euro grant from the Junta de Andalucia.
