Radio Casares has been rated
number two in a professional survey of local public radio stations in
Andalucia. The IRSCOM index rated Radio Casares behind Radio Guadalquivir in Seville
province and ahead of Radio Onda Marina in Cordoba in the inflential survey.
The research was carried out by a group at the Faculty of Communication
Sciences at the University of Malaga. It found that more than two
thousand people are involved in local public broadcasting in Andalucia and that
there are over four hundred people employed in more than 130 local radio
stations. The Communications Councillor in Casares Juan Luis Villalon said the
study showed the importance of local public radio not only in reporting local
issues but also in building bridges within the community and promoting cultural
and social values. The Director of Radio Casares Ana Gonzalez-Deleito said that
being the second highest rated radio station was a very positive reflection of
the work carried out at the station. She said that Radio Casares is committed
to fully inclusive broadcasting , and that every section of civic society
is represented in the station's programming.
