Giovanni Trappattoni parted company with the Republic of Ireland soccer team this week after the team's chances of playing in next year's World Cup were all but wiped out. The Italian failed to live up to his promises of getting the Republic into the tournament. Former Sunderland and Aston Villa manager Martin O' Neill is the favourite to take over the position.
