THE TOWN COUNCIL ALLOCATES NEW BONDS FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

The Ayuntamiento in Casares has allocated new grants for needy families to help them buy food. This is the third time the town hall has carried out this action to help families who are included in the Social Integration Programme.

The grant allocation will benefit a hundred people who are at greatest risk from social exclusion. These families will receive vouchers which allow them to buy food in local shops.


One of the conditions for the issuing of the vouchers is that they are used in local shops in Casares. Since the launch of the programme vouchers worth more than 6,000 Euro have been handed out.

THE FAMILY OF LUCAS THANKS CASARES RESIDENTS FOR THEIR HELP FOR THEIR SON

The family of Lucas, the local Casares boy who suffers from a rare disease, have thanked the people of Casares for all their work to raise funds for his treatment. The 5 year old son a local police officer suffer from Klippel Trenaunay and requires surgery to save his leg and to prevent serious health complications.

Because he is not covered for the expensive treatment by either Social Security or private health insurance, his family have toi raise the money themselves. To date over 29,000 Euro has been raised for Lucas from charitable events in Casares, Secadero, Mijas and Fuengirola.


However Lucas still needs several more operations and his father said he is improving because of the good work on the medical team looking after him.

CASARES GETS READY FOR HOLY WEEK ACTIVITIES NEXT WEEK

Preparations are well underway for next week’s Holy Week activities in Casares. In total there will be four processions during the week, beginning with the traditional Palm Sunday procession from the Iglesia del Llano.

On Tuesday there will be the procession of the Christ of Medinaceli through the streets of Casares. The marking of Holy Week continues on Thursday and on Good Friday there will be the procession of the Lady of Sorrows and the Holy Sepulchre accompanied by a band.


On Easter Sunday the events of Holy Week will culminate with the procession of the Risen Christ and the Virgin of Sorrows. The Holy Week activities are a great attraction for locals and foreign visitors alike.

MAN FROM SECADERO DIES IN ELECTRICAL ACCIDENT BUT THERE WILL BE NO INVESTIGATION

A 35 year old man from Secadero was killed in an industrial accident while working on a farm on Monday evening. The man was working at the farm at San Martin del Tesorillo when he was electrocuted.

The local man was well known in the area and his sudden death has caused shock in Casares, Secadero and Tesorillo. The Labour Inspectorate has decided not to investigate the accident which has already been investigated by the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil.

The dead man was well known locally for hid involvement in sporting and social activities.  He had coached juniors in the Tesorillo Sports Union and had been a player with the club himself for several seasons.
