UNEMPLOYMENT ROSE LAST MONTH IN CASARES BUT IS STILL LOWER THAN A YEAR AGO


Unemployment rose in Casares last month bucking the trend of a decline for the last few months. There were 23 more people signing on in October giving a total of 471 but that was still 64 less than for October last year. In Manilva there was a similar pattern with 103 more people undemployed, a total of 1,390 although this is still 41 less than last year. The number of jobless grew by 544 in Estepona, giving a total of 7,565 out of work, but that figure is five per cent less than last year's figure. The rise in unemployment was refelcted throughout Malaga province with an extra 7,031 people joining the dole queue and brining the total over the 200,000 mark for the first time since the summer months saw a decrease in unemployment. The figures reflect the seasonal nature of employment in the province with the services sector suffering the largest increase in unemployment while constuction has seen a drop of 697 less people out of work.

 

TWENTY NINE COMPANIES TENDER FOR BUILDING THE NEW BRIDGE LINKING CASARES COSTA WITH SABINILLAS


Twenty nine companies have tendered for the construction work on the new bridge that will link Casares Costa with Sabinillas. There have also been twenty one tenders for the work to complete the parking building at Calle Camachas. These are two of the most urgent public works in the community and work is expected to start soon on both projects. The parking building on Calle Camachas will be named the Intercultural Centre of Tourist Interpretation and will have five floors with more than 100 parking spaces and a day centre for pensioners. The new wooden walkway linking Casares Costa with Sabinillas will take three months to complete and has a budget of 207,000 Euro which is being funded by the Junta de Andalucia. Mayor Antonia Morera said these projects will benefit the community economically and will create new jobs in the area.

CASARES TOWN HALL SPENDS 6,000 EURO BUYING FOOD FOR THE SOCIALLY DEPRIVED

Casares Town Hall is to spend 6,000 Euro on buying food for socially deprived families in local shops. The aid is part of the overall plan drawn up by the Junta de Andalucia to provide help for those at risk of social exclusion. The Department of Social Welfare has ent a letter to local shops in Casares explaining that the aid is to be used in full in local establishments. The letter calls on local traders to collaborate in full with the project and points out that it is essential to present receipts for all the food supplied to avail of the money being offered.

Casares will hold its living nativity celebration this year on December 20th. Discussions have already begun with the local theatre workshop and the dance school in preparation for this year's Christmas celebration.
 

CASARES COSTA STARTS NEW LANGUAGE PROGRAMME TO HELP INTEGRATE FOREIGN STUDENTS


A new language programme has been approved to help foreign children living in Casares Costa learn Spanish so that they can better integrate into the local community. The programme was approved this week by the Gioverning Body of Casares T Hall and a grant of 10,000€ was awarded for the project. In co-operation with the Blas Infante Public School the project will provide help at nursery and primary level to the children of foreign residents and immigrants to enable them to learn Spanish to help them fully integrate into the community.

The man chosen according to intelligence sources is Mullah Fazlullah , the Taliban leader who planned the attack on teenage girl Malala because she wanted to attend school.

The so called dream team to manage the Republic of Ireland soccer team will be officially unveiled tomorrow when Martin O' Neill will be appointed manager with controversial former Manchester United star Roy Keane as his number two. O' Neill has had a successful career as a player and manager for teams such as Sunderland and Celtic and Keane is known for his strong views on soccer discipline.
