CASARES DANCE SCHOOL TO OPEN FLAMENCO COURSES ON CASARES COSTA

The Casares Dance School is to offer a  new flamenco dance course at Casares Costa this year following many expressions of interest from local residents. Casares Costa councillor Antonia Pineda said there has been a demand from residents in the area for the course which has been fuelled by the increase in population at Casares Costa. The classes will be held every Tuesday afternoon for children aged between 4 and 12 and in the evening for adults. The course will cost 6 Euro an hour and will begin on October 1st.

THE SCHOOL YEAR STARTS IN CASARES WITH A SPECIAL DAY TO WELCOME NEW STUDENTS

It was back to school this week for children in Casares and Secadero. A special day was held on Wednesday to welcome the 800 students who will be attending the Blas Infante and Los Almendros schools. There are 350 pupils enrolled at Blas Infante and 162 at Los Almendros in Secadero. Teaching staff were making the final preparations this week for the return to school and all services, including dining and school transport, are ready. Yesterday the normal school schedule resumed from 9 to 2 in Casares and Secadero. A full programme of extracurricular activities will commence in October.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Over 200 children are attending this year’s summer schools in Casares and Secadero. The kids will have a wide range of activities, including sports, culture and recreation. The school runs for four weeks in Casares and for July and August in Secadero.

DISAPPOINTMENT AT UNCERTAINTY ABOUT SCHOOL AT CASARES COSTA

There have been disappointed by the decision this week by the Board of Education of the Government of Andalusia, this government has said it will consider, but not committed.

Councillors Pedro Gonzalez and Antonia Pineda met with the Board on Tuesday to press for the building of a new school on the coast. There are 325 children of school age currently registered in Casares Costa, and many of them already attend schools in Casares village, in Sabinillas and in Estepona. However the Education Board said that at the moment there are no funds in the budget to build a new school. Casares Council has been calling since 2008 for a new nursery and primary school at Casares Costa. Councillor Gonzalez said he will continue his campaign for a new school and he will prepare a report on the number of schoolchildren every year which will demonstrate the need for new facilities.
