Cyprus has been given an
ultimatum for next Monday to put in place a bailout package to prevent the
island economy from going bankrupt. The European Central Bank has promised 10
billion Euro but the Government must find an extra six billion after the
parliament rejected stringent levies on bank deposits. Russia has said it is
not interested in a package that would help rescue the Cyprus economy.
