Casares has been chosen as
a model friendly town by the Andalucian government. The government wants to
make towns more accesible to residents and visitors with more public spaces,
and pedestrian facilities for all areas. The project will be carried out
between 2013 and 2015 and will involve the pedestrianisation of many areas with
vehicle access only available to residents. The provincial government has
undertaken to provide 70 per cent of the necessary investment. The governing
team on the council has started work on preparing a strategy which it will
bring to a conference by the middle of next month.
