CASARES STUDENTS TAKE PART IN MAJOR PROTEST AGAINST EDUCATION REFORM LAW

Protests by school students against the new education reform law spread this week as schools reported many pupils staying away. 89 per cent of student sat the Blas Infante school and 18 per cent of the teacher took part in the protest and did not attend school. Compared to similar protests last May, the number of students taking part has grown while the number of teachers has decreased. 86 per cent of the pupils at Los Almendros school took part in this week’s protest but only 8 per cent of the teachers. The nursery was closed in Casares because of the protest but everything was normal in Secadero. While in Manilva almost 100 per cent of students at the high school Las Vinas and 30 per cent of teachers stayed away for the protest.
