CASARES OFFICIALS TAKE PART IN PROTESTS AGAINST NEW LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW

Public offices in Casares took part this week in a sit in against the new Local Government Bill. The protests were part of a week long series of demonstrations in Andalucia. Councillor Antonia Pineda and co-ordinator Guzman Ahumada represented the Casares governing body at a protest at the Provincial Government office. A debate was held at the House of Culture in Casares on Wednesday where more than 30 people, including representatives of local associations and of the governing body , unanimously supported the defence of local services.
The Town Hall is carrying out a study of the new law to analyse it’s effects on municipal services such as health, education and sport. The CCOO union has warned that the new law could lead to the loss of 70 jobs in Casares, including emergency services.
