SPANISH NURSE WHO HAS EBOLA IS CRITICALLY ILL IN MADRID

Teresa Romero, the first person in Europe to catch the deadly Ebola virus, is said to be critically ill in a Madrid hospital as fears mount for her life. Seven people are on an isolation ward because they came into contact with Ms Romero. The nurse contracted the Ebola virus after helping to clean the room of a dead missionary who had been returned to Madrid after catching the virus in west Africa. The Spanish authorities have been criticised for its handling of the crisis. A total of 84 people are under observation in Madrid. The Ebola virus has killed over 3,800 people already in west Africa and the World Health Organisation has warned that the disease is spreading rapidly.
