The Egyptian military stepped in to end the political crisis in the country
and toppled President Morsi in a peaceful coup. The Army moved to oust the
Muslim Brotherhood leader after a week of mass demonstrations in Cairo and
other Egyptian cities. A new transitional council has promised fresh democratic
elections and a new constitution in the near future.
