MAYOR ANTONIA MORERA SIGNS NEW CONTRACTS FOR THE EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOP

Mayor Antonia Morera this week  signed 24 new contracts for the new Blas Infante employment workshop. Students will be trained in two modules, one for theatrical costumes and the second for tourism. They will receive payment for one year in the workshop and each module will take ten unemployed people off the dole. Nora Gagera is the director of the workshop.  and the council has also hired two monitors, and a general education teacher. It is hoped the workshop will lay the basis for long term employment for its participants.

UNEMPLOYMENT FELL IN CASARES LAST MONTH

The number of people out of work in Casares fell in February by 19, bringing the total to 531, that's 21 less than last year's figure for the same period. Unemployment also dropped in Estepona, with seven less people out of work, bringing the total to 8,370, a drop of 177 on the total for last year. In Manilva, there were 14 less people signing on the dole last month, with a total of 1,530 unemployed. However the town has fifty more people unemployed than in the same month last year. The number of jobless in Malaga province continued to rise, however, with and additional 4,000 out of work in February, bringing the total to over 218,000.
